I do not think you are an idiot, especially since you evidently appreciate black lacquer. But I'm puzzled by the enthusiasm for copies of old mouthpieces. There is a seemingly endless variety of new, high-quality, expertly manufactured mouthpieces from which to choose. There was, however, an all brass (keys, too) tenor sax with a SELMER SIGNET logo, in a classic early 1960's blue sparkle Tolex wooden case with navy blue leather binding and red interior. It seems, though, that someone had put this much-more-recent Signet into a much older case. The alto reeds were $24.99 and tenor $26.99 from KesslerMusic. The Omega's I bought in the late 1980s with the clear plastic top. I have several of the fuzzy brown boxes from the 1960s too. I've always liked Vandoren better though.
